The Hottest Happiest Place On Earth!

Shane (my human mom and dad's nephew) recently accepted a job in Minnesota and he's going to be relocating there with his wife Tutcha and their young son Nathan. Since they're going to be moving early in May, Mary (Shane's mom) decided to have a family get-together at Disneyland. Even though it's only April, the temperature when they arrived at Disneyland was 100+ degrees. Holy moly... they were sweatin' like pigs!

My mom and dad had a bit of a scare when they first arrived at Disneyland. The plan was to meet up with Mary and her family inside of the park. My dad and mom got a call while they were waiting in line to buy their tickets... it was their niece Amy calling to tell them that her dad (Doug) was at the Disneyland first aid station and the paramedics were getting ready to take him to the hospital! Of course my mom and dad immediately got out of the ticket line and they wondered if they were going to be spending the rest of the day at the hospital with Doug. A few minutes later Mary called my dad and told him that Doug was feeling better... basically the heat got to him and once he rested and got some fluids in him he was good to go. Phew! My dad and mom met up with the rest of the family at the Carnation restaurant inside of the park. Here's a picture of Shane telling my dad all about his new job while they were eating lunch.

Amy and her husband Josh brought their infant daughter Sophia along... here's Amy and Sophia... (Sophia is sticking her tongue out at the camera... hee!)

Shane, Tutcha and Nathan had fun riding Dumbo...

Here's Nathan and his grandpa Doug exploring Toon Town...

Doug, Mary and their kids left the park at around 9:00pm. My mom and dad decided to stick around and watch the fireworks show...

Here's Sissy in Toon Town... she had a great time but she was totally pooped out at the end of the day!

Do these come in my size?

Lily not only has a shoe fetish... she seems to have a shoebox fetish as well. Here she is pretending to be a fuzzy slipper.

Metropolis loves Obama

Did you know that Wilbur's mom is from Metropolis? (And her high school mascot was Lois Lane*.) How cool is that?

*Okay... I made the mascot stuff up but it could be true!

For Jackson (who knows what it feels like to be on the business end of a squirt bottle...)

This Toast is TOAST...

I got a frantic email from my buddy Blackie this morning. (Blackie and his brother Bob have their own blog that you can check out here.) See how panic stricken Blackie was this morning?

Blackie said that his mom was in a big hurry to make her breakfast today and she burned up the toaster oven! He said there was smoke and flames shooting out of it and his mom was screaming and yelling. Luckily his dad kept his wits about him and doused the flames with water. Here's the aftermath of the fire...

I'm jealous, nothing this exciting ever happens around our house. Well, every now and then my dad gets mad while he's fixing computers and he starts throwing his hat around. That scares the bejesus out of me and I run out into the backyard and I can hardly stand up because my legs are shaking so hard. Prow Prow kitty and Taz just ignore my dad when he throws his hat around... they think I'm a big wuss because I get scared so easily. Well, I can be tough when I want to be. I'm the only dog in the neighborhood who will stand up to the psycho German Shepherd that lives across the street from us. But that's a story for another day... Love, Ollie

Gone Fishin'

My human dad has a plastic boat that he likes to go fishing in every week. Here he is out on our lake. I'm not sure what he was pointing at... I'm sure it was interesting though. ::yawn::

Wilbur's dad has a plastic boat too. His boat has pedals and a rudder. Don't tell anyone but my dad has "pedal envy". He says the pedals come in handy when your arms are tired from paddling. Here's Wilbur's dad in his plastic boat...

My dad decided to try his luck out on our lake this morning. He came home with a bunch of these slimy things...

I'm not sure what these things are but Prow Prow kitty sure got excited when she smelled them! After my mom took the pictures my dad cleaned them up in the kitchen sink and put them in plastic baggies. They're sleeping in the freezer now... speaking of sleeping, it's past my bedtime. Good night!

Spoiled Lily...

Is it weird in here, or is it just me?

The birthday girl in this photo is my dad's sister. Question... can you find my dad in this picture? (Hint: look for the fake nose and glasses.) Apparently my dad wanted to remain incognito even back then.

Easy Rider with training wheels...

My mom thought she was pretty cool when she got her first two-wheeler with training wheels. I guess no one told her that the coolness factor is diminished when (a) you have Harpo Marx hair and (b) you're wearing saddle shoes.

Fun With Wilbur and Dolly...

My mom and dad went out to eat with Wilbur and Dolly's mom and dad tonight. After dinner they went to Wilbur and Dolly's house for coffee and dessert. My mom can't resist taking pictures of Wilbur and Dolly... here's Wilbur saying hi to my dad.

Dolly is a lover not a fighter...

But she's also a fighter so don't get any funny ideas!

Why the long face Wilbur?

Dolly says, "get that camera out of my face... grrrr!"

Future Hall of Famer...

What's that old saying? "Turn about is fair play?" Here's a picture of my mom when she was 6 years old getting ready to run down to first base. (In a dress no less!) Uh oh... I better get off the computer before my mom catches me on here. Bye for now! Ollie

Pet Humiliation - A Historical Journey

While looking through my mom and dad's old photo albums it became painfully obvious that they have a long history of humiliating their pets. The first photo shows my dad when he was about 4 years old sitting in his fire truck. Innocent enough, yes? If you look closely by his hands you can barely see the top of Minnehaha's (his black and white cat) head. Yes, he would stuff poor Minnie in the fire truck with him and take her for rides around the yard.

Next we have the long suffering Fuschia. Here she is wearing some type of a flower headband. Can you tell that she totally hates having that on her head? Fuschia... I feel your pain.

Last but not least is me wearing a blue floppy hat. My mom has tons of pictures of me wearing a variety of hats, showers caps, beanies, etc. She says it's my fault because I go along with her nonsense and pose for these pictures! Yeah right... blame the victim. Sigh...

First Impressions...

Prow Prow had a similar reaction the first time she saw Ollie...

A Blackie Impersonator?

My mom noticed a Blackie lookalike on her calendar page today. This is actually the cat calendar that she keeps on her desk. She also has a custom designed (by Wilbur's mom) super cool Ollie calendar that she keeps on the fridge door! Yep, 12 months of nothing but Ollie pictures... does it get any better than that? I think not. You know my mom always bought dog calendars before the evil Prow Prow came to live with us. Now it's Prow Prow this and Prow Prow that... geesh! Am I bitter and angry? You bet I am! Grrr! I'd beat up Prow Prow but she scares me. Every now and then she'll come over and sniff me but I'll remain motionless and play dead because I'm afraid that she's going to hurt me. My mom thinks it's funny (thanks a lot mom!) because I'm so much bigger than Prow Prow. Hey, Prow Prow has sharp claws and she likes to wave them in front of my face to torment me. Sometimes I'll get brave and I'll stick my cold nose under her tail when she least expects it... wow, who knew cats could jump so high?? heh heh heh!

Film at 11...

To "Smokey"... by Irene Smith

My mom found this poem online and it reminded her of Smokey "Bob"...

He came from a cage in the shelter

To be part of my life and my home,

To replace the cat that had left me

So I wouldn't feel so alone.

His fur is the color of smoke

And his eyes are a beautiful gold.

I wish I could know his life story

But I guess that will never be told.

Did you sleep on the bed of your owner

And purr when she patted your head?

Did you run to your dish in the kitchen

When you knew it was time to be fed?

Did you have a soft lap to curl up on

And relax in a nap with a sigh?

Did you love to look out of a window

To see a strange world passing by?

Now you fit so well into my lifestyle

I no longer feel so alone;

You've filled up that empty place in my heart

And turned my house into a home!

Pet Expo 2008

Yesterday my mom and dad went to the Pet Expo at the Orange County Fairgrounds with Wilbur's mom and dad. It was pretty hot (in the 90's) and the place was jam packed. The first building they saw when they entered the fairgrounds was the Millennium Barn. That was where they exhibited all of the large animals. As you can imagine, the heat made that barn a pretty stinky place. Wilbur's mom wanted to get up-wind of it ASAP!

There were lots of adoptable dogs and cats on display. My mom and dad are thinking about adopting another dog to keep me company because Taz is in his golden years and isn't able to play with me anymore. They looked at lots of nice dogs but these are the four that they really liked. First up is "Toby". Toby is a smooth coat Collie... he's basically the same as a Lassie dog but without the long fur. Toby practically jumped over his barrier to give my dad kisses. (That scored major points with my dad!) He also wanted to give my human sister Alyson kisses... (that scored major points with both my mom and my dad!)

Next they saw Jake. Jake is a Border Collie mix. One of the nice things about Jake is that he has the smarts of a Border Collie without the hyper personality of a Border Collie. He is very, very sweet and not super huge. My mom and dad liked Jake a lot!

Tyra is another beauty that my mom and dad are considering. Tyra was available through the Irvine Animal Care Center which was kind of neat because that was the first construction job that my dad was a superintendent on when he and my mom were living in Orange County. The Animal Care Center is celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year - my dad couldn't believe that it's been 25 years since he worked on that project! My mom (unbelievably!) didn't get a picture of Tyra but here's a photo of a lab that looks very similar to her. My mom and dad loved Tyra's personality... she was very mellow and definitely gravitated to Alyson. My dad thinks that Tyra would make an excellent therapy dog.

Last but certainly not least is Elvis. Well at least we think this is Elvis. When my mom checked her Elvis photo against the Elvis on the Basset Rescue website it was definitely not the same dog! So maybe this Elvis is an Elvis impersonator (hee!) But I digress... Elvis is a total love bug and he gave my dad lots of kisses. Elvis is being adopted out by the Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California - the same place where Wilbur came from! My mom is trying to convince Wilbur's mom to adopt Elvis because Wilbur needs a Basset buddy to play with. (Plus it will narrow my mom and dad's choices down to only three and help make their decision easier!)

My mom and dad are still talking things over. They're not 100% sure that they want to add another dog to the family right now. There's probably a good chance that some or all of these dogs will be adopted before they make up their minds which is okay... there's plenty of other dogs who need good homes! We just wanted to share our short list with you.... my mom took lots of additional pictures which she'll probably compile into a kodak gallery album. There's way too many to post on my blog! Bye for now, Ollie

Kiss Ass time

Hi, Bob here! We haven't been doing any of our kitty posts over at the BOB AND BLACKIE SHOW or haven't been making guest appearances here either in a while. Mommy helps us do these posts and she's been pretty sick. Too tired, she says. but she's starting to feel better. So here I am. This photo is of me and Daddy. Daddy loves to hug and hold us. Blackie hates to be held and will only tolerate it for a few minutes. But, if i'm in the mood, I can be hugged forever. I usually like to kiss ass before breakfast and dinner. Mommy figured that out early on. Daddy still doesn't get it, and thinks i love him just because! Hehe! Hey, I know how to get my meals....

Ok, have to go for now. Mommy's camera isn't working right, so we don't know when we'll have any new photos, but she has a lot of older ones still waiting to be posted... so you all will get to see more kitty porn soon!

Love, Bob

Needles?!

From time to time Wilbur's mom gets to go on business trips to exotic locales like Ludlow, Earp and her very favorite place... Needles! Why is Needles her favorite place you ask? Well a lot of us have asked her that question. She says that she enjoys the hot weather. The average temperature in Needles is almost as hot as the surface of the sun*.

Wilbur's mom also gets first class treatment at her favorite hotel... the Hotel Calzona.

Wilbur's mom says that she dreams of retiring in Needles someday. Wilbur's dad says that he'd much rather shovel snow than bake in the hot desert in his retirement years. (Wilbur's dad is shoveling out a special poops spot for Wilbur and Dolly - isn't he a good dad?)

Here's Wilbur supervising the snow shoveling. Did you notice that Dolly isn't in these pictures? That's because she was inside staying cozy next to the fireplace - she's no dummy!

Wilbur's mom sent my mom this postcard on her last trip out to Needles. Apparently she thought this lovely picture would entice my mom into visiting Needles someday. (Note to Wilbur's mom... "Oh HELL No!")

*In July and August the temperature in Needles often exceeds the temperature of the surface of the sun.
