Camera Critters #17

This past June on Father's Day I featured a handsome Clydesdale named Stryker in my Camera Critters post. Unfortunately Stryker passed away suddenly and unexpectedly earlier this week. Stryker developed colic and according to my research, among domesticated horses, colic is a major cause of premature death.

Although I didn't take the picture (below), I did want to include it in my tribute to Stryker. Not only was Stryker a working horse but he was a beloved member of the family as well. To Stryker's family (Michael, Gail, Keli & Kailyn) we extend our heartfelt sympathy.

Horses and children, I often think, have a lot of the good sense there is in the world.

I'm sorry for their loss. He seemed like a lovely horse. I love the Cynthia Rylant quote in your sidebar and the 'tribute' to your beloved fur-friend. Thanks so much for your visit to Small Reflections. Only the white dog is mine. The black lab belongs to a neighbor but Molly and Sassy are fast friends. As for my cell phone, methinks I'll eventually play with all the features ... just because I'm a curious sort.
Hugs and blessings,

That is so sad. Stryker was such a gorgeous horse.

We spent most of our day watching Clydesdales, and you could see that the horses and their people had some very special relationships. I'm sure Stryker will be missed.
